An Introvert's Triumph: Gopi's Journey of Confidence
Gopi's parents worked as daily laborers in Hyderabad and struggled financially to make ends meet. So when Gopi was 10, a friend of Sphoorti's founder helped him join the foundation.
Gopi was an introvert and found it difficult to make friends at first. He missed his parents and felt lost. However, during dinner at the foundation, he met Naveen. They bonded over teasing Sai and the three became best friends. Naveen and Sai helped Gopi come out of his shell and approach people.
One lasting memory Gopi has is from their time at Adhya Academy School. Chocolates meant for distribution were left unattended, and Gopi took one secretly. Sai caught him and was on his way to complain to the teacher. Gopi, in a witty turn, convinced Sai to have a bite. Gopi then exclaimed, "How will you tell the teacher now? You ate one too!". They both burst out laughing, and this incident became a core memory for Gopi. Their friendship was like that of brothers - full of fights and reconciliations.
Gopi was also a passionate chess player. He'd spend countless hours in the hostel, locked in strategic battles with Naveen. Together, they prepared for the annual "Raindrop" tournament. After five grueling rounds, Gopi emerged victorious, claiming the first-place!
In his first year of BTech, Gopi moved back to his parent's home. He wasn't great at studies and struggled to complete his degree while commuting 40 kms daily. COVID further delayed his graduation by a year. During this time, he learned programming languages like JAVA and SQL. Gopi aspired for a career in IT and applied for several jobs but was unsuccessful.
During Sphoorti's 16th anniversary program, he met Sindhu akka and Vinesh anna. Vinesh, a major partner at Microsys Automation, offered Gopi a “Site Engineer” position.
Today, the once-introverted Gopi is someone who talks to clients, understands project requirements, communicates with stakeholders, and delegates tasks. He says that these communication and leadership skills stem from his time at Sphoorti.
Gopi dreams of collaborating with his friends to create a film one day. His inspiration stems from Trivikram Srinivas, a prominent Telugu filmmaker known for his work as a director and screenwriter. Gopi aspires to craft a work that matches the brilliance of his idol.
Mamaiya was Gopi’s biggest motivator. His teachings went beyond academics and emphasized the importance of treating others with respect, building character, and leading an honest life.
Gopi's advice for future students is simple - "Study well, have fun and be happy."
